STEAM Center
STEAM Center is a research and educational center dedicated to preparing students for 21st Century workplace careers by providing high quality educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEM) fields. STEM/STEAM education is defined as an integrated curriculum (as opposed to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics taught in isolation) that is driven by problem solving, discovery, exploratory project/problem-based learning, and student-centered development of ideas and solutions. The saturation of technology in most fields means that all students – not just those who plan to pursue a STEM profession – will require a solid foundation in STEAM to be productive members of the workforce. STEAM Center will be the lynchpin in this strategy, providing curriculum, support and training for teachers and leaders, and networking schools and educators together to learn from national experts and from one another STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. Unlike the traditional way of teaching, in which science fields are taught in isolation, STEAM focuses on teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematic in an integrated way which teaches students logic to creatively solve problems.
