The Gooneybirds
Originally, a national touring band (150-200+ shows / year, released 5 CD's, recorded at Prince's Paisley Park, received 1 year sponsorship w/Anheuser-Busch) and now play 1-5 shows / year. In addition to a rich library of original material, the Goonies have covered songs by artists like: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Ike and Tina, Etta James, Joni Mitchell, etc. The Gooneybirds started back in 1987 when they played their first gig at Fernando's on East Lake St. They played the 400 Bar & then moved to their home at The Cabooze Bar on the West Bank in Minneapolis, appearing there many times including their residency Sunday nights (1989 to 1992).... Gooney Bucks anyone? The Goonies toured extensively in the 1990s playing clubs and festivals from New York City to Denver to New Orleans. They've shared stages with Widespread Panic, Blues Traveler, The Jayhawks and Soul Asylum to name a few. In recent years, the Goonies play out a few times a year. All in all, it's been a long strange trip & the Goonies have been having a great ride! Band Members- Boyd 'Bump' Blomberg. Vocals, guitar, anecdotes. Pete 'O' Caritas. Mostly just guitar.
