Ohio Valley Node of the NIDA CTN
The Ohio Valley Node (OVN) of the National Institute on Drug Abuse's (NIDA) Clinical Trials Network (CTN) is located within the Cincinnati Addiction Research Center (CinARC) at the University of Cincinnati, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience. The OVN is working to improve the quality of substance use disorder treatment & facilitate the translation of empirically-demonstrated treatments into community programs. The goals of the OVN CTN are 1) test & adapt evidence-based treatment in community settings; 2) deliver research findings into the hands of clinicians and other professionals who can make the best use of them – fast; and 3) train staff, expanding the reach of evidence-supported treatments. As of September 2010, the OVN consists of 23 community-based treatment programs in 15 states in the Midwest region of the United States. The OVN includes the following states: West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Kansas, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska. The community-based treatment programs include specialty addiction treatment centers representing different modalities of care; as well as general medical care settings such as emergency rooms, HIV clinics and family practice centers. The OVN has participated in over 25 national multi-site clinical trials on drug abuse treatment.
