Musei Tora Bujinkan is a very small and private study group for the community of Knoxville and offers Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu as delivered by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi. While this is a military martial art honed to perfection in secrecy and on the battlefield, training is kept serious, but in a playful and relaxed manner. Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu training incorporates classical armed and unarmed Samurai methods of fighting. This includes traditional and modern weapons as well. Because of the effectiveness of the art utilizing shinkengata (actual combat skill), participation in tournaments and contests is strictly prohibited. These techniques were developed to be used in a time of imminent life and death survival, not for a match in a ring. Unlike other martial arts which use speed, aggression and strength to defend one's self, Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu uses relaxed, natural movements from one's own body to assist defeating an opponent. This unique characteristic, separate from other martial arts seen today, makes this a realistic art that one can utilize whether young or old.
