The Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) is a student-run organization whose purpose is to expose students to the practice of Emergency Medicine through a variety of activities. The EMIG hopes to elicit the help of various emergency physicians for guidance in introducing the basic concepts and skills needed in an Emergency Department. Lebanon has 7 medical schools (The American University of Beirut, Lebanese American University, Beirut Arab University, Lebanese University, Balamand University, Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, and Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth) that graduate approximately 500 students yearly. Therefore, we believe that developing a nation-wide EMIG chapter for Lebanon is both efficient and encompassing. Our Mission: 1. To create an interest in Emergency Medicine for Lebanese medical students. 2. To form a mutually beneficial support group for Lebanese students hoping to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine. 3. To provide mentorship for students applying for to residencies in Emergency Medicine. 4. To disseminate information about the field of Emergency Medicine. 5. To facilitate learning opportunities and clinical skills in Emergency Medicine.
