SEJA
In Portuguese SEJA means ‘to be’, we embrace the power of local social leaders to inspire individuals and communities to be the creators of their own journey. A dynamic journey that opens up the possibilities and potential to become whoever they want to be. SEJAs impact currently stretches across three cities (Rio de Janeiro, Natal/Brazil, and London) working with three specific impact pillars: Professional Development, Financial Support, and Cultural Outreach. Working with over 50 local leaders, supporting 16 local grassroots projects, offering 100 hours of support, and most importantly consistently impacting 1,250 young people and children per week. Current local leaders are offering a range of activities to young people and children in the favela, from tennis and football, to surfing, to urban dance and ballet. Financial Support: Supporting grassroots community leaders financially has been and continues to be a core part of the deliverables at SEJA. Through monthly donations, SEJA offers a base for the local leader to build on; while also providing stability and sustainability to the project. Professional Development: The SEJA professional development program is rooted in the needs of the communities where we work. The program offers personalised/professional training for SEJA local leaders helping them develop as professionals, people and prepare them for success in the nonprofit market. Cultural Outreach: Via physical and digital community events and programmes SEJA helps young people build an identity and show the true power of culture and its value
