California Society of Health-System Pharmacists - CSHP Central Valley Chapter

CSHP Central Valley is a local chapter of the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP) that serves pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and associates from San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Calaveras, and Tuolumne counties. CSHP is a professional society of pharmacists and associates who serve patients and the public by promoting wellness and the best use of medications. The concept and eventual founding of the Central Valley Chapter began with a group of pharmacists in May 1971. At the time, CSHP as we know it today was then known as the California Council of Hospital Pharmacists (CCHP). In May 1971, the Central Valley Chapter was affiliated with the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP) and recognized as the seventh chapter providing representation to CCHP. The second meeting took place in February 1972. Election of officers occurred on May 11, 1972 with the following officers elected: = Kathy Owyoung, President = Don Shiromizu, Vice-President = Joesph Woelfel, Secretary = Frank Tarantino, Treasurer = James King, Group Director = John Hambright, Membership (San Joaquin General Hospital) = Larry Schalo, Membership (Lodi) = Lloyd Souza (Turlock) = Jim Bloomquist (Modesto) = Frank Tarantino (Stockton) In June 1972, the bylaws and constitution for the chapter were drafted and passed, followed by installation of the first officers. On September 27, 1972, papers were sent to ASHP for approval, officially creating the Central Valley Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CVSHP). Charter Members: = Harriet F. Catania = Patrick N. Catania = Christine A. Frey = John Hambright = James C. King = Joseph M. Kitchen = Norman Kobayashi = D. L. Langberg = Chew Fan Lee = Kenneth McDonald = Katherine Owyoung = Donald Shiromizu = Lloyd M. Souza = Roy Takeuchi = Frank P. Tarantino = Joseph A. Woelfel = John Yep = Alan Young In 2003, CVSHP officially changed its name from "Hospital" Pharmacists to "Health-System Pharmacists", the last CSHP Chapter to convert its name. Then, in 2008, CVSHP once again changed its name to be in line with the state affiliate. Today, we are known as the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Central Valley Chapter, or CSHP Central Valley.
