A weekly, sober, 75 minute dance in the dark. Ok, why Danser Dans L’Noir? Because sometimes it is nice to not have people looking at you like you are a sandwich, waiting to be eaten. Because too many times we do not dance out of fear. Or we dance to please others, and not ourselves. Wouldn’t it be nice to discover what we like to do, what is new and impressive, or familiar and basic, in our own bodies? I want to understand, but I am having some difficulty. Can you give me some examples? Maybe you are afraid to move in front of a room full of people: voila! Problem solved. Or, you think, “ah! I always wanted to dance like a bag, caressed by the wind! Maybe it is pretentious, but nobody can see me! It is ok!” Or maybe always you are a plastic bag dancer, and you feel empty, like the bag. Turn off the lights! Everything changes! Nobody watches you, and perhaps in this moment you find it is beautiful, to you, to bounce like a happy baby.
