Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, Seneca College has conducted 2 highly successful “hackathon” innovation contests. Our Covid 19 Business Response Hackathon in 2020 had over 400 students and 80 submissions which helped small and mid-sized business response to the covid pandemic with innovations such as curbside pickup apps and covid-tracker apps. Our 2021 Digital Health Hackathon had over 600 attendees and 100 submissions and included broad ranges of submissions including vaccine passports, telehealth apps and IoT-based eldercare monitoring.
