Revitalising old engravings to create beautiful and vibrant art prints For years I have been hoarding found books of high quality Victorian era engravings. Whilst many were stuck at home during the pandemic, I created my first collage designs to send as postcards to friends and family. They were well received and so I decided to take the leap and open this shop! The process of engraving usually involves both an illustrator to form the image and an engraver to transfer the image to a metal plate - by making a series of small precise indentations. Whilst my collage work is digital, I always aim to respect the source material, the textures and natural marking of the original etchings. With over 10,000 illustrations in my collection the only limit in this journey will be my creativity. There is such a daunting variety of work on Etsy. My goal is to explore my personal style and see how it can develop - hopefully those that purchase prints will share the joy of the creations and their history. In the future I can use the designs on gift cards, clothing or who knows what!? If you have any ideas please do share them with me.
