Lo & Vee
Lo Whitehead and Vee Hartley are artists & illustrators based in Leeds UK. Both run their own independent practices and came together in May 2015 to form Lo & Vee, a partnership in which they collaborate to make new creations and run art and wellness workshops aimed at communities, families and anyone with an interest in getting creative. "We believe that art is for everyone. It can bring people together, strengthen existing relationships and increase confidence. Our classes are designed to break down the fear for anyone who says ‘I can’t draw!’ or ‘I don’t know how to paint!’ by throwing out the rule book and showing everyone how by using everyday objects we can make original, exciting and imaginative art works. " Workshop leaders role: To present the workshop to all the attendees, and provide inspiration through examples from various artists past and present as well as our own work. We will be talking all the participants through their creative processes and wherever necessary we will be encouraging and supporting anyone struggling to start. We will also open up discussion between the participants about making the artwork. Lo and Vee create large scale murals and artworks. They have collaborated with and provided art and illustrations for Local business', such as House of Koko, Whites Cafe Bar and ACS Business Supplies. They also regularly hold exhibitions and events, the largest being “An Other World” exhibition held at Leeds Central Library for two months as part of an artists residency. In 2019 Lo and Vee decided to reduce the amount of new plastic they use in their creations, using ethically sourced or re-purposed and recycled materials. “We’ve been making our new plastic free party bags which include zero-plastic toys, jewellery, paper crafts, hand made cruelty free and ethically sourced bath cosmetics and some sweet treats too.” These plastic free party bags can be customised and tailored to any event or occasion and any age group.
