PTM Foundation is an organization started and funded by Grammy Award winning band, Portugal. The Man. The Portland, Oregon based group began their career in their home state of Alaska and have toured the globe playing to millions of people across 6 continents. Portugal The Man have been a Platinum selling artist in 10 countries and counting, and were recently honored with the Legend Award at the Native American Music Awards. PTM Foundation is the primary vehicle for Portugal. The Man to engage, advocate for, and reinvest in the communities they grew up in, currently belong to, and generally care for. To that end, the band has launched the PTM Fund at Oregon Community Foundation to help support, grow, and sustain this work for years to come. PTM Foundation is focused on building community resilience, empathy, and awareness through music, stories, art, education and connectivity. We aim to convene and organize partnerships and projects informed by community need, then mobilize Portugal. The Man’s listeners and supporters around that shared vision. While our advocacy, philanthropy, and community engagement work is primarily centered around universal issues related to human rights, mental health and the environment, this organization puts a specific focus on highlighting the stories of Indigenous Peoples, and we are committed to helping bring these sacred voices – often the most informed, yet silenced among us – to the forefront. PTM Foundation views this work as inherently nonpartisan and believes issues of human rights, environmentalism, disability rights, and mental health affect us all. We are students, helping facilitate lessons for ourselves and the broader community through education, awareness and visibility.
