The University of Canberra Student Architecture Society is a student run society aimed at supplementing the learning experience of Students in the faculty of design, in particular the Architecture sub faculty. The society provides students a representative amidst the academics who can take their concerns or ideas to the appropriate higher bodies. The Architecture society similarly helps bridge the gap between industry and students, bringing industry processionals to the students, in attempts to enhance the networking capabilities of UC students. In contrast the society also provides a social avenue for students to partake in, one in which they can enjoy get togethers and meet like-minded students. These get togethers take the form of bi-weekly fundraisers, Design balls and Cocktail evenings. The introduction into architecture can be seen as an overwhelming stepping stone for some, and the Architecture Society attempts to combat this, by providing first year students with start up packs and handy advice sessions, which will best prepare them for the year ahead. The completion of our degree marks the beginning of our professional careers and therefore the UC Student Architecture Society feels that this deserves to be celebrated and subsequently the society coordinates and funds a large Exhibition in which students, industry professionals and academics come together to celebrate the works of UC students.
