The Ryerson Sociology Students’ Union (RSSU) runs events and activities of interest to sociology students. The Ryerson Sociology Students’ Union (RSSU) is a course union by Sociology students, for Sociology students. The RSSU will strive to be representative of Ryerson’s Sociology student body. The RSSU will also strive to interpret and meet the needs and interests of the Ryerson student body. One of the main objectives of the RSSU is to create and maintain a progressive community within the Sociology program. The RSSU will also focus on engaging student interests within the field of Sociology. This will be achieved by emphasizing professional development; the RSSU will help the students in connecting with and learning from practicing sociologists but also incorporates highlighting current advancements within the field. Special attention will be given to assisting the students in gaining practical skills relating to the field of Sociology. The RSSU will focus on issues of social justice. The RSSU will strive to take an active stance on current social issues, with the intention of inspiring social change. The RSSU will accomplish this goal by maintaining an interest in global and local issues. This includes becoming active members of the surrounding and global communities, with the intention of initiating and facilitating a progressive society.
