Grass volleyball was virtually unknown and seldom played competitively in Pittsburgh until Pittsburgh Grass Volleyball LLC began hosting and organizing grass volleyball events back in 2016. Since then, we've seen huge growth in interest in both our weekly pickup play and in the marquee event we host every year at the South Park Fairgrounds, the "Pittsburgh Grass Open." The Pittsburgh Grass Open is a one-day grass doubles volleyball event that takes place in mid-August. Outside of the Pittsburgh Grass Open, we also host weekly pickup on Sundays starting late spring (through the summer) and ending early fall, that occurs at either the South Park Fairgrounds or the Schenley Park Oval. Pittsburgh Grass Volleyball was founded by a group of passionate volleyball enthusiasts, who fell in love with grass volleyball attending the Pottstown Rumble Volleyball Tournament - still the largest grass doubles volleyball tournament in the nation.
