Sultan Foundation
The purpose of the Sultan Foundation is to provide access to culture for underprivileged segments of the Egyptian society in Cairo primarily by creating permanent places for art and culture in a low-income neighbourhoods of Cairo that will bring cultural production to the local community, promote development through culture and promote diversity of cultural expression by involving various contemporary artistic production in the area and with the local community. The Sultan Foundation also aims to serve as a model for heritage preservation, where historic properties benefit both the monuments and the local population. It seeks to contribute to the conservation, preservation, and protection of cultural heritage, and by involving the community in it, reaffirm the link between culture and development. Young people have a central role to play in achieving these goals. They have the potential to forge fresh initiatives to build bridges of peace and cooperation across communities and national borders. In an effort to stimulate this potential, the Sultan Foundation will use every opportunity to organize activities and projects that seek to familiarize youth groups with the important interdependency that exists between countries, and to help them appreciate the value that human diversity brings to the world.
