Association of Women Engineers @ AUS
AWE is a joint collaboration in American University of Sharjah (AUS) of two internationally renowned student chapters solely dedicated to the aim of giving women engineers a unique place and voice within the engineering industry. It promotes women in engineering by advocating the importance of diversity and by uniting resources to encourage academic, leadership, professional, and personal excellence for the entire Engineering community and in moulding the leaders of Today and Tomorrow. The student chapters are namely - Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Women in Engineering (WIE) branch under IEEE. This organisation was founded to fulfil three missions: 1. Promote the study of engineering to our local youth through outreach work. 2. Enhance the diversity of the AUS engineering community. 3. Provide career and academic development opportunities for our collegiate members. Membership for SWE and IEEE-WIE is open to all (male and female) undergraduate and graduate students in engineering and technical fields in AUS, as well as other universities in the UAE!
