Black People Talk (BPT)
Black People Talk (BPT) is a non-profit which supports the mental health and wellbeing of the UK's Black community through research-led, co-designed, co-developed and co-produced peer wellbeing support groups. BPT operates as a chapter-based initiative, providing its services across three main sectors: academic, corporate and the community. Currently, BPT is running the 'Academic Chapter' which runs Black Students Talk (BST). BST is a peer support group that provides safe, supportive and therapeutic spaces for Black university students to meet, share, learn and manage their own and each other’s mental health and wellbeing. Students are introduced to peer health psychoeducation and take part in one-to-one and group discussions on topics that are relevant to their mental health. BST sessions are facilitated by paid university students who are trained to implement BST’s innovative peer support model and co-designed resources. BST supervisors provide monthly group supervision and reflective practice sessions for the facilitators. Supervisors are Black psychological practitioners, trained in the integrative approach. BST is currently running peer wellbeing sessions for university students in England and Wales, funded by Student Space, to register visit: https://blackpeopletalk.co.uk/activities If you are interested in working with us, please email: hello@blackpeopletalk.co.uk.
