The company announced it would cease operations on November 24, 1997 and was declared bankrupt by the Tokyo District Court on June 2, 1999. Yamaichi Securities Company Ltd. provided underwriting, brokerage, distribution and dealing of securities. The Company was also active in portfolio advice, fund management, corporate finance and merger and acquisition assistance. Yamaichi, formed in 1897, was at one time one of the four major Japanese brokerages. Its clients were major Japanese corporations.
