The UTS Cryptocurrency Society was established in 2017 and aims to educate beginners of the emerging Cryptocurrency and Blockchain technologies with a strong technical focus. Workshops are run twice a week, catering to the different availability times of workshop attendees. The workshops provide in-depth explanations and examples of the discussed technologies to teach people of the fundamentals and core concepts which helps them feel comfortable in the Cryptocurrency and Blockchain fields of technology. The fundamentals of mining Cryptocurrencies and the different algorithms associated with mining Cryptocurrencies are discussed in workshops with different algorithms and methods weighed against each other to assist members in making decisions should they choose to start mining. Setting up, running and hosting a masternode as well as staking and comparing the two are presented and explained in our workshops and notes. Notes are provided to all members of the Society as further notes to assist members in understanding these technologies. The society covers the fundamentals of investing and what to look out for concerning the unregulated nature of Cryptocurrencies. Topics such as technical analysis are covered, along with basic financial market fundamentals. Risk aversion is highly focused on throughout each and every class to protect members from the dangers that come with an unregulated market and helping members recognize the many different types of scams in the market. Discussion about Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain is encouraged via our facebook group, in class workshops and events we host for members to get together.
