Hanley Hustlers is a Stoke-on-Trent based Basketball club. The club has been built upon the principles of being inclusive, welcoming and creating a positive, yet challenging environment that aims to meet everyone's motivations for playing basketball. The club was created by people who have a passion for the sport in the area of Stoke on Trent who discovered a need for a more player centered environment that was focused on the individual rather than the coach. A lot of the reason why people do not participate in a structured environment is that of a dislike of the traditional autocratic coaching style and demotivating training methodology. As basketball methods and players motivations have changed all over the world there is a need to keep engagement within the sport for it to continue to thrive. At Hanley Hustlers our coaches use a combination of Games and traditional based approaches to facilitate learning, using small sided and conditioned game; random and variable practice to keep players stimulated and to allow learning in a facilitative manner. We adopt an environment of learning where players get to have a say in their training and club.
